Since we've build our new "camper", we have gone on a few short test trips in California, but have not tested the rig on any longer trips.
So, we made the fundamental mistake of taking a newly build rig into a long trip without knowing its strengths and weaknesses yet. But, so far, it mostly has turned out as expected. The parts we really thought about have worked well, the parts we didn't have time for or underestimated in their importance have been challenging. All this is as expected and we have to make allowances for it.
That aside, the start of the trip has been a quick and boring drive north on I-5, then all the way deep into British Columbia, where, at least for me, the actual trip started.

These days, most of the fire watch is done by satellite or from planes, so these lookout towers aren't manned anymore, but they are great destinations since they always are in places with great views of the surrounding landscape.
Unfortunately, we could only see a few kilometers, due to wildfire smoke in the air.

While parked at the lookout location, we enjoyed the comforts of our electric cooking system and made some tea for the ongoing drive.
